After jumping out to a 21-0 lead, the Indians were forced to come from behind late and they did as Logan Marlow hit Nash Lay for a 66-yard touchdown pass to give Oneida the lead with 1:41 left to play. The Indians held on for a 36-29 win over Gatlinburg-Pittman.
"Our team has came together over the last three weeks," Oneida coach Tony Lambert said. "I've really been proud of what they've been able to do. This is an awesome night."
The Indians struck first as Marlow threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Drew Crabtree for the 6-0 lead. Marlow finished with 169 yards and two touchdowns on the night.
Jake Lawson ran for a touchdown and Crabtree caught the two-point conversion to give the Indians a 14-0 lead. Lawson finished with 88 yards and three touchdowns, while Evan Roberts added 99 yards on 16 carries.
Gatlinburg-Pittman took the lead (29-28) on a two-point conversion, but the pass by Marlow, catch by Lay and block by CJ Shaffer put the Indians back on top.
After regaining the lead with just under two minutes remaining to play, Oneida's Laken Porter stepped up with a big interception to seal the deal with :54 left on the clock.
