From Oneida TN -
We are pleased to announce to our community that the bankruptcy court that has been handling the bankruptcy of Pioneer Health Services has awarded the sale of assets of Pioneer Health Services of Oneida, LLC to Florida based Rennova Health, Inc. (Nasdaq:RNVA) While close in name, Rennova is not related to Knoxville-based Tennova Health.
The sale is expected to be completed on January 6, 2017. It will take approximately 90-120 days to complete all the necessary license and certifications to re-open the hospital. Management expects the hospital to reopen sometime in April of 2017 offering the same services offered at the time it was closed, including 24/7 ER coverage, general hospital services, and outpatient diagnostics and laboratory services.
Following the purchase of assets Rennova will invest close to half a million dollars in much needed repairs to the hospital and professional building.
Unlike when Pioneer owned the hospital and located many of the support back-office jobs out of town, Rennova intends to locate all job functions, including those that are considered "back-office", here in Oneida. Prior to opening the management team will accept applications and interview candidates for jobs.
Joseph Herrod, who is leading Rennova's Hospital Division, has ties to the local area. His parents have lived in the area - Oak ridge, Sevierville, and Knoxville - for 20+ years. Mr. Herrod states, "I am very excited that we are bringing back a much needed hospital to the people of the Big South Fork Region. Having access to an ER, outpatient diagnostics and support for local physicians is necessary for the wellbeing of a community and its people. This is a basic building block of a community. People need a hospital and access to healthcare. I've gotten to know East Tennessee over the past 20 years and I've grown to love the area and its people. We have a lot of work to do and there will be challenges, but I have confidence that this community will rally and support us as we revive this hospital. Having a partner such as Rennova Health will give us the needed capital and support to achieve success."
We are going to ask the community for help in naming the hospital. "This hospital is for the benefit of the people here in the Big South Fork region. We need a name that represents the people and we want the community to come up with a name," states Herrod. We will use Facebook to organize a contest for naming the hospital. Those details will be released in the coming weeks.
According to Rennova's formal press release to investors ...
I am excited that Rennova has asked me to continue as CEO of the hospital. As stated above in, operations of the hospital will be located in Oneida and not in a central office building in another state. This allows our patients, staff, providers and other members of our community to come by and speak to someone with their questions, suggestions or concerns.
I want to express a big thanks to those community leaders and concerned citizens that has worked behind the scenes to make this a reality.
Joseph, Rennova and I are committed to serving the health care needs of the community and making this "BEST" little hospital in Tennessee.
Tony Taylor, CEO, Scott County Community Hospital
